In the dark night, reflecting the universe and all its colors, watches the cosmic owl...
Okay this is actually a Long-eared owl that I painted in metallic colors.
For a while I wanted to play with using metallic powders on more than just my dragons and beetles. And, glow-in-the-dark paint, which this guy actually does glow... it's his eyes and all of the white lines and spots. The result is my crazy combination of colors in this Cosmic Owl. I used copper, gold, silver, purple, blue, green, red, pearl white, and black.
This sculpture is handmade from 5 gourds, wire, and clay. He's 100% handmade, every feather is sculpted and applied by hand. His eyes are hand-painted acrylic and glow-in-the-dark. He sits on a unique cedar root base where a rock has grown into the front.
He stands 12" tall with base.
