I've started a new gourd critter series...this time, MINIATURE CATS!

I needed to practice cat faces anyway, so when I found a nice method to make mini cats I made a lot. 24 actually, but only these 10 have been finished.

They're made from a miniature doll gourd and a half of another. Features are sculpted with paperclay and they're painted with whatever color I feel fits the sculpting. No matter how hard I try they're all very different. They're no more than 3.5 inches tall, the smallest being the little grey tabby in the front.

I made these for a festival but since I have 14 more to complete, these are up for sale now. They're $25 each plus $4 shipping USA ($6 out of country).

The ones sold are:
Siamese (back left)
Tuxedo (back second from left)
Grey Tabby (Front left) claimed by *IckyDog
Brown Tabby (front right)

If you're interested in one, tell me. I have several photos of each one but I haven't compiled the pictures yet.

What is a miniature doll gourd? Is it a vegetable or something else entirely?

:D A gourd is totally unique from any kind of vegetable. It grows like a squash, on a vine, but the fruit (that comes in thousands of different shapes and sizes) isn't edible. In fact, they grow a thick shell that resembles wood in durability. The innards are fluffy and full of seeds, they look like loofah. After the gourd dries a year, and the paper thin skin is scrubbed off, you're left with a tan colored hollow shell. That shell won't rot or degrade, and you can use them in all sorts of art and crafts! The miniature doll gourd is one of the thousands of gourd types. It looks like a miniature dumbbell, barely 3 inches long.

We grew bird house gourds but had never heard of miniature doll gourds and have never seen anything like your cats being done with them. What a wonderful creative idea.
Thank you for the explanation.
